ICAR-IISWC Research Centre, Vasad Organises Farmers’ Meet under SCSP Programme in Kheda

The event brought together the Centre’s team, field staff from the Foundation for Ecological Security (FES) and the village farming community. The FES team introduced the ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Vasad team to the farmers, while the Village Sarpanch welcomed the Centre team and participants.

During the interaction, the Centre team briefed the farmers on the objectives of the SCSP programme and the achievements of Research Centre, Vasad through its SCSP activities. The Centre also formally announced the adoption of Junna Movda village under the SCSP programme and expressed its commitment to supporting the overall development of the village and the welfare of its farming community in the coming years.

The team highlighted the importance of active participation and cooperation from the farmers for effective implementation of the programme and discussed the expectations from the village farmers’ group.

A brainstorming session was subsequently organised to prepare the activity plan for the current year, covering both capital and operational expenditure. Based on the discussions, key activities including tubewell construction, field levelling and field bunding were finalised for implementation during the year.

The farmers participated enthusiastically in the discussions and appreciated the Centre’s efforts towards supporting the development of the village and its farming community.

More than 80 participants, including around 20 women farmers, attended the Farmers’ Meet and actively participated in the deliberations.
