    Objectives of the training
    • To impart the knowledge about establishment of soil testing laboratories, basic      instruments  and cares required in the laboratories.
    • To acquaint the participants with the soil sampling and testing techniques.
    • To spread awareness among the participants about Interpretation of test results and formulation of nutrient recommendations.
    Prospects of the training
    The growth and development of agriculture/horticulture crops are influenced by the levels of essential plant nutrients available in the soil. Soil testing is considered as important tool to understand the plant nutrient availability and it is a very useful strategy to formulate crop and site-specific nutrient recommendations. Soil test based fertilizer usage will help in increasing the nutrient use efficiency and farmers’ income, besides minimizing the risk of discharging pollutants to surface or ground water.

Scope of training
This training programme offers exhaustive coverage on soil sampling, soil testing protocol, interpretation of data and soil test based nutrient recommendations to specific crops. It also covers handling and usage of instruments in the soil testing laboratory. This training will immensely be useful to all those involved in soil testing services in horticultural crops.
