On August 7, 2024, PAU- Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Fatehgarh Sahib, in collaboration with the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA), conducted a comprehensive training and awareness programme focused on energy conservation and efficiency. The event was attended by approximately 60 farmers and other stakeholders.
Dr. Ajay Kumar, Assistant Professor (Soil Science), inaugurated the workshop by welcoming the officials and participants. The training aimed to raise awareness about water and energy conservation practices applicable in both fields and workplaces.
Dr. H K Singh, Energy Manager at the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), delivered a detailed presentation on various topics, including energy-efficient pumps and motors, star labeling in agricultural pumps, renewable energy, rainwater harvesting, and biogas plants.
Mr. Karan Kandhari, Project Manager at PEDA, emphasized the importance of energy and water conservation and discussed government schemes and subsidies available for the installation of solar pumps and rooftop solar plants.
The programme also included an interactive session where experts addressed participants’ queries. The event concluded with Dr. Arvind Preet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), expressing gratitude to the officials and participants. Certificates were distributed to all attendees to acknowledge their participation in the training programme.
