ICAR-IVRI organized a three days training cum exposure visit on ‘Unnat Bakari Palan’ for the farmers from Saharsa, Bihar sponsored by ATMA during 22-24 January, 2024. A total of 15 farmers actively participated in the training cum exposure visit programme. The training programme was inaugurated on 22nd Jan, 2024 with the welcome address of chief guest Dr Rupasi Tiwari (Joint Director Extension Education). She welcomed the participants and briefed the participants about different aspects of goat farming under field conditions. She
emphasized upon the market potential of goat farming.
During these three days training programme, a total of 13 lectures were organized for trainees on various aspects of scientific goat farming viz. improved breeds for goat farming, goat housing management, feeding management, health management, meat production and its processing, mobile apps on goat farming as well as information on several schemes and programmes on goat farming. Apart from these lectures, exposure visits were organised to KVK Farm, ATIC, Vermicompost unit, Dairy Farm, Milking Parlour, Polyclinic and IVRI
Museum.
Valedictory session of the training programme was organised on 24 th January, 2024 at ATIC committee room of ICAR-IVRI. Dr Triveni Dutt, Director cum Vice Chancellor, ICAR Indian Veterinary Research Institute, was the chief guest and motivated the farmers regarding goat farming. He highlighted about various services rendered by the institute to benefit the farmers. Dr. Rupasi Tiwari, the Joint Director of Extension Education, graced the occasion and stressed that participants should effectively implement scientific goat farming in their area to generate sustainable livelihoods. Certificates were given to the participants at the end of the training program. Dr. Shruti, the coordinator of the training program, concluded the program with a vote of thanks.
