A five-day vocational training programme titled “Preparation of Sweets for Festive Season”, organized by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ropar under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, reached its successful conclusion today. This programme, held from October 3rd to October 9th, 2023, aimed to equip participants with the skills to create delectable sweets for the upcoming festive season.
Guided by Dr Satbir Singh, Deputy Director (Training) at KVK Ropar, this initiative saw enthusiastic participation from 23 farmwomen and adolescent girls from the region. Dr Satbir Singh, in his congratulatory address, highlighted the immense potential for value addition through sweet preparation and encouraged the participants to consider forming small self-help groups to further this enterprise. He emphasized that rural women could enhance their skill sets significantly through such training programmes.
Dr Princy, Assistant Professor (Home Science), focused on the latest trends in sweet preparation. Participants were trained in crafting six distinct products, including besan barfi, nariyal laddoo, balushahi, matthi, matri, and oats laddoo, aligning with current preferences and tastes. The participants displayed remarkable interest in the training and expressed their commitment to producing these delectable items at the household level during the festive season, thereby contributing to local celebrations.
