Student of D.A.V. Public school, Itarhi Road, Buxar visited ICAR RCER Krishi Vigyan Kendra,Lalganj, Buxar, Bihar on 9th January, 2024. A total of 31 students of class 9th including 11 girls visited the long term Cropping System Experiment cum demonstration plot and interacted on cropping system and cropping pattern of dominating rice based cropping system of the district. They saw conservation agriculture practices through Zero tillage and crop residue management through incorporation of crop residue in field to enhance carbon content in soil for improving soil fertility.
They were also briefed about straw management through straw baler machine. Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Buxar showcased technologies like improved varieties of cereals, pulses, oilseeds, vegetables, crop protection technologies viz pheromone trap, sticky trap, Beekeeping unit and nursery management in unutilized area, and kitchen gardening at home regarding nutrition and quality concern. The student also visited Integrated farming System unit and noted various component for year round production and livelihood security particularly for marginal farmers. KVK Buxar showed them various farm machineries used for modern agriculture and precision farming, Mini sprinkler unit, solar based irrigation pump, seed processing unit and their function. The student were also seen the demonstration of spraying of agrochemical through drone technology and shown keen interest in it. On this occasion Dr. P. K. Sundaram (Sr. Scientists), Dr. Pawanjeet (Scientist) & KVK SMSs Mr.Ramkewal, & Mr. Hari Govind, Manoj Kumar Sinha, Sr. Tech. Asstt and Arif Parwez, Farm Manager were present for discussion with students.
