A Skill Development Program on “Pre-processing and drying of fish” was conducted at the Engineering Section of ICAR-CIFT during 7-8 March 2023. The training was inaugurated by the Director I/C, Dr. T V Sankar on 7th March 2023. The training program was attended by 18 participants from all over Kerala who were entrepreneurs interested in hygienic dry fish production technology. The training program covered areas related to fish handling, pre-processing of fish, drying of fish in CIFT solar-hybrid dryers, dry fish quality evaluation, packaging and storage of dried fish, options for fishery waste management, entrepreneurship opportunities in the dry fish business, Government schemes for entrepreneurs, interaction meeting with the dryer manufacturing agencies, and success stories of dry fish units established by the incubatees of CIFT. At the end of the training, certificates were distributed by Dr. Murali S., Scientist and Incharge, Engineering Section in the presence of scientists, Dr. Neethu K C and Dr. Aniesrani Delfiya D S of Engineering section, and other staff of CIFT.
