With an aim to provide clean and green environment, as many as 150 new trees comprising 70 blue Jacccaranda, 50 white pagodas and 30 Red pagodas have been planted at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). This tree plantation has been done in collaboration with Sankalp Foundation, Dehradun. Dr RIS Gill, Estate Officer, PAU and Dr Parminder Singh, Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping, started tree plantation by planting blue Jacccaranda.
“The plantation drive aims at making PAU campus fragrant and colourful in the coming years,” said Dr Gill, adding that more such new plantations will be undertaken in future as well.
Dr Singh observed: “PAU hosts a beautiful campus which comprises trees and flowering shrubs in various hues. In continuation of this, tree plantation has been planned as this world renowned University acts as lungs for the city dwellers.”
