The Skill Development Centre, under the Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, conducted a 26-day training course titled Agricultural Skills Training Program for Rural Youth. This course was sponsored by the Syngenta Foundation India, Pune, Maharashtra, and guided by Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education.

Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head of the Extension Education Department, welcomed the esteemed guests, including Dr Makhan Singh Bhullar, Director of Extension Education at PAU Ludhiana, and senior officials from Syngenta Foundation India, Mr K.C. Ravi, and Mr P.S. Jagdish, during the formal concluding ceremony of the training programme. He outlined the structure of the training, which began on July 1, 2024, and concluded on July 26, 2024, with the participation of 35 trainees.

Dr Prerna Kapila described the programme as a unique initiative to provide trainees with job opportunities upon completion. The training covered technical knowledge delivered by over 40 scientists from PAU across various subjects, ensuring that the participants became fully aware of agricultural research, techniques, and challenges, enabling them to support their fellow farmers effectively. Company experts also provided job-related information to help the participants perform their duties efficiently.

Dr Bhullar advised the trainees to utilize the knowledge gained during the training wisely. Mr. P.S. Jagdish provided insights into the services offered by Syngenta Foundation India. Mr. Ajay Pal Rathore, National Sales Manager, motivated the trainees to pursue their future endeavours with dedication. Senior official Mr K.C. Ravi from Syngenta Foundation India expressed pride in the successful collaboration with Punjab Agricultural University in organizing this course.

Course coordinator Dr Lavleesh Garg moderated the event. Dr Malvinder Singh Malhi, officials from Syngenta Foundation India, Dr Divesh Tiwari and Mr Raja Ram Saharan, Ms Kuldeep Kaur, and Ms Kanwaljit Kaur from the Skill Development Centre, were also present. The event host, Dr Prerna Kapila, thanked all attendees.
