The Regional Research Station, Faridkot, of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has achieved a remarkable milestone by being adjudged as the “Excellent Centre” among 22 centres across India functioning under the All India Coordinated Research Project on Cotton (AICRP on Cotton). This prestigious recognition was conferred by the Quinquennial Review Team (QRT) for the assessment period from 2018 to 2023, highlighting the center’s exemplary performance and contributions to cotton research and development. QRT report was communicated by the Nodal Officer, ICAR – All India Coordinated Research Project on Cotton.

The evaluation was based on various criteria, including high-impact research publications, innovative recommendations for cotton cultivation, successful execution of competitive projects, and the introduction of novel initiatives to advance cotton research. Additionally, the center’s robust farmer outreach programs and effective extension activities were lauded for bridging the gap between scientific advancements and grassroots agricultural practices.

This accolade underscores the Regional Research Station, Faridkot’s dedication to addressing critical challenges in cotton farming, enhancing productivity, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. By combining cutting-edge research with practical solutions for farmers, the centre has solidified its position as a national leader in cotton research, contributing significantly to the agricultural sector’s progress and the betterment of the farming community.
