The Organic Farmers’ Club of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) organized a training camp at the Skill Development Center to educate farmers on the principles and practices of organic farming. Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, Coordinator of the Club, shared that the camp witnessed the participation of around 65 farmers who learned valuable insights about organic and natural farming techniques from PAU’s organic farming experts.
Dr Gurdeep Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer of Ludhiana, highlighted the Punjab Government’s schemes for promoting organic farming and emphasized the growing demand for organic products. He encouraged more farmers to adopt organic methods, citing the economic benefits and increased profitability of organic produce in today’s markets.
Processing expert Dr. Gurveer Kaur demonstrated the techniques for processing pulses using small-scale machines, enabling farmers to add value to their produce. Dr. Sohan Singh Walia, Director of the Organic Farming School, discussed the benefits of using organic methods for fencing farms and explained their advantages.
Progressive organic farmer Mr Upkar Singh shared his experiences and inspired others to embrace organic farming practices. The event began with a warm welcome by Mr. Amrit Singh Chahal, President of the Organic Farmers’ Club, who greeted the participating farmers and experts. The camp concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Varinder Singh from the Communication Centre, who served as the camp coordinator.
