Punjab Agricultural University’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra (PAU-KVK) at Patiala organised a Lead Farmers Training Programme in collaboration with CIPT today, July 23, 2024. The event saw the participation of 85 leading farmers from different blocks of district Patiala.
Dr. Hardeep Kumar, Operation Manager, CIPT briefed the farmers about the programme and shared inputs for water management in Kharif crops. While welcoming the farmers, Dr. Gurupdesh Kaur, Professor-cum-In charge, KVK, Patiala, delved upon the role of lead farmers in dissemination of agriculture technology to the larger fraternity of farmers, who are inquisitive to know about the recent developments in the arena of sustainable agriculture. She highlighted the vision and objectives of the Training Programme. Dr Gurupdesh Kaur also shared inputs for dietary management of diabetes and other lifestyle diseases.
The Training Programme included several seminal discourses by expert/scientists who elaborated on several significant themes. Dr. Rachna Singla, Professor (Horticulture) spoke about micro-irrigation in horticulture and vegetable crops. Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) delivered a lecture on practices and technologies for water conservation in paddy. Dr. Hardeep Singh Sabhikhi, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection) spoke at length about pest and disease management in Kharif crops. Dr. Rajni Goel, Professor (Food Science & Technology) shared inputs in milk processing. The Training programme concluded with an open discussion and a question-answer session.
