Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur organized National Farmers’ Day function on 23rd December, 2024 under the leadership of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR, Attari, Zone-1, Ludhiana. On this occasion, 12 progressive farmers and farmer women who have adopted auxiliary professions and practiced sustainable farming were honored. 40 farmers and farmer women participated in this function with full enthusiasm at the invitation of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur.
Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur welcomed the farmers and farmer women and shared information about the importance of Farmers’ Day. Dr. Mandeep Singh talked about the research and extension education activities of PAU and also made them aware about the role of Krishi Vigyan Kendras. He said that Krishi Vigyan Kendras are constantly striving to create employment and income opportunities for farmers and farmer women through dissemination of new technologies, awareness programs, agricultural advisory services and organizing vocational training courses.
One of the main attractions of this event was the exhibition of agricultural products. In which the products prepared by the farmers and farmer women themselves were displayed.
At the end of the event, progressive farmers were honored for their special contribution. They also shared their success and experiences in agriculture and allied professions with everyone and motivated them to join Krishi Vigyan Kendra and participate in vocational training courses.
Dr. Gurbir Kaur, Dr. Ravinder Kaur, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Vitsta and Dr. Rukinder Preet Singh were also present during the program and discussed with the farmers and farmer women.
