The Department of Extension Education, under the aegis of Dean, College of Agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a training camp at village Gureh, Jagraon block of Ludhiana district, in which about 40 rural women participated.
Dr Lakhwinder Kaur, Extension Scientist, while welcoming the farm women, said that the course aimed to empower women to avail skill development opportunities and other courses at the university’s Skill Development Centre.
The students from PAU outlined various courses offered; the schedules, and the procedure to apply with a special focus on the RKVY-RAFTAAR scheme, which supported rural entrepreneurship. Additionally, they provided details on how to connect with PAU for further assistance.
Mrs Manjit Kaur, an active member of the Gureh village Self-Help group, shared her personal success story, encouraging the rural community to form Self-Help Groups and venture into small businesses.
At the camp, PAU literature and pamphlets containing details of PAU’s skill development courses were distributed among the participants, and the event was coordinated by the RAWE students. This initiative showcased PAU’s commitment to fostering skill development and entrepreneurial spirit among rural women.
Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head, Department of Extension Education, commended the efforts of the students in organizing the training programme for the women.
