The Department of Resource Management and Consumer Science (RMCS), College of Community Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated World Day for Health and Safety at Work today by organizing a lecture on the theme “Postural Health Management”. A total number of 50 undergraduate and postgraduate students along with faculty participated in the event. An exhibition was also put up by the second year students of B.Sc. (Hons) Community Science.
Dr Pushpinder Sandhu, Professor (retd.), Department of FRM, who was a guest speaker, emphasized the importance of maintaining good posture while working, resting and sleeping activities, as “good health starts with good posture.” If we pay attention to maintain good posture in young age, it will help till the old age, she added. Dr Sandhu also told about self-assessment technique to discover proper posture to be adopted.
Dr Kiran Bains, Dean, College of Community Science, encouraged the students for maintaining postural health while in the classroom and using digital screens.
Dr Sharanbir Kaur Bal, Head, Department of RMCS, motivated the students to adopt right postures to avoid health problems.
Dr Ritu Gupta, Associate Professor and Dr Harpinder Kaur, Professor, coordinated the event.
