One day training programme on “Agroforestry systems and Sandalwood cultivation” was organized by Dr. T. Chaitanya, Scientist (Soil Science) and Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Pr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, AICRP on Agroforestry, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar at Kolanupaka village, Alair mandal of Yadadri-Bhongir district under SC sub plan on 19.07.2023. The programme was attended by Dr. B. Anil Kumar, Co-ordinator and Mr. B. Madhu Shekhar, SMS (Agril.Extension), DAATT Center, Yadadri-Bhongir, Mr. Lakshmi Prasad Reddy, Sarpanch, Dr. Ramesh, RSS President, Mrs. Padmaja, MAO, Alair, Mr. C. Shiva Kumar, AEO besides SC farmers of the village. Dr. T. Chaitanya has explained about silvicultural practices of sandal wood cultivation to the farmers. Dr. B. Anil Kumar has highlighted the importance of agroforestry systems vis-a-vis to sole cropping. Mr. B. Madhu Shekhar has explained about modalities under SC sub plan. Mr. Lakshmi Prasad Reddy and Dr. Ramesh spoke about monetary and environment value of Agroforestry trees. Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu has apprised of the beneficary farmers about agronomic interventions in Eucalyptus, sandalwood and integrated farming systems for achieving higher productivity and income. At the end, 2333 sandalwood saplings, 20 tarpaulin sheets and 40 khurpis were distributed to the beneficiary farmers.
