PAU Kisan Club today successfully organized its monthly training camp for the club members at the multipurpose hall of Dr. Manmohan Singh Auditorium.
A total of 75 farmer members participated in this training camp organized under the guidance of Directorate Extension Education.
Crop Scientist Dr. Tarundeep Kaur Dhaliwal shared information about weed management in rabi crops. She asked the farmers to use the methods recommended by PAY for proper control of weeds in wheat.
Dr. Vivek Sharma from Soil Science informed the farmers about the micronutrients present in the soil. He said that every farmer should get the soil of his field tested, which determines the productivity of the soil and the amount of nutrients in the soil.
Senior Plant Pathologist Dr. Amarjit Singh shed light on the diseases and prevention of diseases that occur in wheat in rabi crops. He advised the farmers to sow recommended varieties of wheat and avoid cultivation of non-recommended varieties to avoid economic losses.
Dr. Harpinder Kaur of the Department of Resource Management and Consumer Science, Punjab Agricultural University, gave information about the selection of utensils for healthy cooking. She encouraged the use of stainless steel in kitchens instead of plastic as it is more effective, durable and safe to use.
Club Secretary S. Satvir Singh welcomed the experts and club members. Club President S. Manpreet Grewal finally proposed the vote of thanks. Mr. Varinder Singh of Sanchar Kendra conducted the program.
The entire event was organized under the supervision of Additional Director, Communications Dr. Tejinder Singh Riar and Dr. Kuldeep Singh.
