Recommended technologies should be adopted to increase the production of cotton crop. – Dr. Sharad Gadakh, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Pandit De.Kr.V., Akola 20.01.2026

Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Agricultural University, Akola, Agricultural Science Center, Yavatmal-1, Central Cotton Institute, Nagpur, Ministry of Textiles and Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra jointly organized a farmers' meeting on ultra-intensive cotton cultivation technology, intensive cotton cultivation technology under the special cotton cultivation project on January 20, 2026 at Mouje Zadgaon, Tal. Ralegaon G. Yavatmal .

 The meeting was presided over by Hon. Dr. Sharad Gadakh, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Pandit De Agrawal, Akola. Guest and Guide Hon. Dr. Dhanraj Undirwade, Director Extension Education, Dr. Pandit De Agrawal, Akola; Hon. Shri. Manoj Kumar Dhage, District Superintendent Agricultural Officer, Yavatmal ; Hon. Shri. Dada Lad, Dada Lad Technology Father, Parbhani; Hon. Dr. Shrikant Amarshettyvar, Associate Research Director, Divisional Agricultural Research Centre, Yavatmal; Hon. Shri. Mauli Kapse, Experimental Farmer, Parbhani; Hon. Shri. Babasaheb Kapile, Experimental Farmer, Yavatmal; Hon. Dr. Deepak Kachchhe, Senior Scientist and Head, Agricultural Science Centre, Yavatmal; Hon. Shri. Atul Ingle, NABARD Bank, Yavatmal. E. Manyawar were present.                     

Under the chairmanship of the said program, Hon. Dr. Sharad Gadakh, Vice Chancellor, Dr. P.D.A.V., Akola, appealed to change the traditional cultivation method of cotton crop and adopt modern and recommended high-density cotton cultivation technology to increase production. He also informed that an ideal village initiative will be implemented and delivered in every taluka of the district through Dr. P.D.A.V., Akola.

The guest and guide of the program, Hon. Dr. Dhanraj Undirwade, Director Extension Education, Dr.P.D.Kr.V., Akola, gave detailed guidance on the pest and disease management of cotton crop and major crops in the Rabi season and urged the farmers present to stay in touch with the scientists of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra to solve the agricultural pest problem in time. Hon. Mr. Dada Lad, Dada Lad Technology Founder, Parbhani gave detailed guidance on the technology of removing the neck and head along with dense planting in cotton crop and Dada Lad technology. Hon. Mr. Manoj Kumar Dhage, District Superintendent Agriculture Officer, Yavatmal guided the farmers about the government schemes of the Agriculture Department and the technology developed by the university to increase their income. Hon. Mr. Mauli Kapse, Experimental Farmer, Parbhani informed the farmers present about his own experience in farming. On this occasion, farmers who are achieving record yields using intensive cotton cultivation technology were honored by dignitaries.

In the introductory part of the program, Mr. Rahul Chavan, Scientist, Agricultural Engineering, gave information about the purpose and importance of the special cotton cultivation project being implemented in the district.

Dr. Deepak Kachhve, Senior Scientist and Center Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Yavatmal, encouraged the students about the activities being implemented through the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and also about orchard cultivation.

On this occasion, the farmers present were given information about the use of drones in agriculture and a demonstration of cotton threshing machines. On this occasion, IFFCO Officer Mr. Santosh Phaltankar, Afro District Coordinator Hon. Mr. Sachin Mahatale, Taluka Agriculture Officer, Ralegaon, Hon. Mr. Suhas Bhende, officers and employees of the Agriculture Department were present. Also, officers and employees of Rashi, Nizhuvidu, Prabhat Company who were involved in this project and officers / employees of the Agricultural Science Center, Young Professionals of the Special Cotton Cultivation Project worked tirelessly to make the program a success and especially Hon. Mr. Narendra Arunrao Kewate, President and Hon. Mr. Harish Kale, Krishak Kranti Farmers Producer Company, Zhadgaon actively participated in organizing the program. The program was conducted by Dr. Pramod Magar, Scientist, Entomology, while Dr. Ganesh Kaluse, Scientist, Animal Husbandry, expressed his gratitude.
