One-day Farmers Field Day program organized at Kalamb, Mavalni Tal., under the Special Cotton Project, Agricultural Science Center Yavatmal-1. 29.10.2025

A field day program was held on Friday, October 29, 2025, at the farm of farmer Shri Sukhdev Rahul Avasare of Kalamb, Mavlani Taluka, under the auspices of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Central Cotton Research Institute, Nagpur. A large number of farmers were present on this occasion.

With a view to increasing the production efficiency of cotton, the main crop of Vidarbha, an intensive cultivation project is being implemented under the Agricultural Research Council and the Central Cotton Research Institute, Nagpur in 9 talukas of Yavatmal district, namely Yavatmal, Ralegaon, Kalamb, Babhulgaon, Arni, Pandharkawada, Maregaon, Wani, and Ghatanji.

In this project, a one-day agricultural day was organized to promote and disseminate intensive, ultra-intensive and Dada Lad cotton cultivation technologies among farmers to increase cotton production. Agricultural communication kits and Kamgandh traps were also distributed.

The program was presided over by Hon. Dr. Deepak Kachve, Veteran Scientist and Head, Agricultural Science Center, Yavatmal, Dr. Pramod Magar, Subject Specialist (Kitka Branch), Agricultural Science Center, Yavatmal, Shri Rahul Chahan, Subject Specialist (Engineering), Mayur Dole, Extension Education Department, Agricultural Science Center, Yavatmal, Ms. Dipali Jamulkar (Sarpanch, Mavalni), Mr. Sudarshan Patange (Nuzividu Seeds), as well as Ms. Shivani Bavankar, Ravindra Rathod, Gaurav Yelkar, Nayan Thackeray, Amol Walke, were present.

Shri Rahul Chavan (Science Engineering) introduced the program and gave detailed guidance on how the use of pneumatic planter in intensive cotton cultivation system is beneficial for the farmers. Using this machine helps in accurately releasing the seeds at the right depth. Also, uniform seedlings grow and it is also possible to supply initial fertilizer along with sowing. For this, he gave detailed guidance on the need to take the help of mechanization for modern agriculture.

The chairman of the program, Hon. Dr. Deepak Kachve, Senior Scientist and Head of Agricultural Science Center, Yavatmal, gave detailed information to the farmers about the cultivation method of cotton crop in his guidance. Proper spacing for planting and basic nutrient management increases the number and size of bolls and increases the production. And he gave detailed guidance on which planting distance the farmers should choose according to the soil type and on low-cost management of cotton crop.

In the technical session, Dr. Pramod Magar gave detailed information about the purpose of the project, how the high-yield cultivation technology is benefiting the farmers and the work being done by the Agricultural Science Center to promote and disseminate this technology. He also explained the importance of pest and disease management on cotton, yellow and blue traps and Trico cards.
