Under the patronage of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, conducted a vocational training on the ‘Art of Preparing Bakery and Confectionery Products from November 20th to 24th, 2023. Led by Mrs Renu Bala, Demonstrator of Home Science at KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, the training showcased diverse recipes, techniques, and creative garnishing for bakery and confectionery items.
Participants gained hands-on experience and practical insights into ten distinct recipes, including Sponge Cake variations, Walnut and Dates Cake, Suji Cake using traditional kadai method, Cupcakes, Muffins, Pizza, Naan Khatai, Atta Biscuits, and more. The training extensively covered baking methodologies using ovens, microwaves, and traditional gas chullah techniques. Notably, icing techniques for cakes were also part of the comprehensive training curriculum.
In addition to the practical demonstrations, Mrs Bala shared insights into making nutritious bakery and confectionery products by modifying fundamental recipes, emphasizing the importance of balanced and health-conscious ingredients.
Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training) at KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, addressed the concluding session, encouraging participants to integrate the acquired knowledge and skills into their entrepreneurial ventures. He assured ongoing support for their future endeavors and motivated attendees to consider pursuing this training as a profession.
