In line with the ongoing Praali Parbandhan Chetna Yatra campaign, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, under the aegis of the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, successfully organized awareness camps in the villages of Ghuman and Jadli on October 31, 2023. The primary objective of these camps was to educate farmers about innovative paddy residue management techniques.

Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, played a pivotal role in highlighting the detrimental consequences of crop residue burning and emphasized the significance of adopting appropriate paddy residue management practices utilizing advanced farm machinery.

Experts from KVK Hoshiarpur, including Dr Ajaib Singh, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering), KVK Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Dr Kirandeep, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering), shared various in-situ and ex-situ techniques available for paddy residue management, while also providing information about the machinery available for custom hiring at KVK.

Dr Baljit Singh, Assistant Professor (Entomology), KVK Langroya, guided farmers on integrated pest management, particularly in fields conserving straw. Dr Gurinder Singh, Demonstrator (Animal Science), sensitized farmers about the importance of animal nutrition and highlighted the utilization of paddy straw in animal husbandry. To further assist farmers, literature related to crop residue management and a comprehensive package of practices were distributed during the camp.
