An awareness programme cum training programme under the project “Gender mainstreaming through Government schemes in Animal Husbandry sector for empowering farm women” was organized at Srirampur village of Balipatna Block by ICAR-CIWA on 09.08.2023. Dr. Biswanath Sahoo, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIWA discussed with the participants of women farmers associated with farmer producer organisation (FPO), Maheera, Balipatna block, Khorda, Govt. officials and NGO workers and detailed various issues and approaches of availing the benefits of different schemes in animal husbandry. Dr. Pritam Pritiman Panda, Addl. VAS, Balipatna informed about the ongoing schemes in Animal Husbandry sector of Government of Odisha and Government of India and explained the procedure of availing various schemes. He apprised the work undertaken by ICAR-CIWA for sensitizing farm women to be enrolled in different schemes and establishment of linkage with NABARD, Animal husbandry department and urged the farm women to avail the benefits including subsidies of various government schemes. In this meeting about 60 nos of farm women including SC women farmers of Maheera Farmers producer organization (FPO) in Balipatna block participated this programme. Mrs Kavitha Bhoi, Sarpanch of village and Mrs Jhilli Bhoi, nominee, Smt. Kumudini Swain chairperson, Maheera (FPO), Sh. D.K. Mallick, Head of NGO Kalinga Bharati, Sh. D.K. Jena, Head of NGO Asha Diganta, Sh. J.R. Mohanty, head of FPO Madhukeswar & Sh D.N. Choudhary, Dairy entrepreneur availing the dairy entrepreneurial scheme from MKUY Yojana actively participated and appreciated the awareness and sensitization programme about various schemes in livestock sector for the benefit of farm women. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Biswanath sahoo, Pr. Scientist, Sh.Sanjay Kumar Behera, Sr.Technical Officer, and Sh. Gautama Parida (YP) of ICAR-CIWA.
