Honorable minister for agriculture and farmers’ welfare , Government of Puducherry, Sri. C. Djeacoumar visited ICAR-ATARI , Hyderabad on 12-06-2023 and discussed performance of Krishi Vigyan Kendras in the union territory of Puducherry with Dr. Shaik N Meera, Director of the institute. The first KVK of the country was established at Puducherry in the year 1974 and thus KVK system of India is completing 50 years of glorious service to the farming community. During the discussions with honorable minister the plan of action for organizing a mega event to commemorate the golden jubilee year of KVK system was chalked out. Director , ATARI , Hyderabad assured the minister to extend all the support required for strengthening the KVK at Puducherry to make it Center of excellence for the production of bio inputs. Honorable minister visited the dairy and goat units of PV Narasimha Rao Telangana Veterinary University and interacted with veterinary scientists. The minister later made a visit to KMG dairy farm at Gudimalkapur where more than two hundred buffaloes of Murra breed are maintained. He evinced keen interest on the maintenance of the farm , purity of the breed, market linkages and value addition. During his visit to the goat farm of an awardee farmer , Sri. M. Mahender Reddy at Nyalata in RangaReddy district, the minister appreciated the innovative hygiene and nutrition management interventions of the farmer. He later visited another goat farm , Caprigen in Chevella where intensive goat rearing is going on in elevated slotted goat shed.
