3 October 2024 | A press conference regarding the preparations for organizing the 116th All India Farmers Fair and Agro Industry Exhibition was held today in the Vice Chancellor’s Auditorium under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan. The press conference was organized by Director Communication Dr. J. P. Jaiswal. At the beginning of the program, he welcomed the Vice Chancellor and all the representatives of print and electronic media present in the auditorium. Director Extension Education Dr. Jitendra Kwatra gave detailed information about the programs to be organized in the four-day 116th All India Farmers Fair and he informed that about 210 big and 190 small stalls will be set up by various firms in this fair. He informed that the 116th All India Kisan Mela will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami and other dignitaries at Gandhi Maidan on 4th October 2024 at 11:00 am, after which he will also visit the garden exhibition set up in the fair. After this, the Vice Chancellor and Director Extension Education will take the guests on a tour of the stalls of various colleges and other institutions set up in the fair. The inaugural ceremony of the fair will be held in Gandhi Hall, in which after visiting the fair premises, the Chief Guest will address the farmers and the attendees. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan, while telling about the preparations for the 116th Kisan Mela, said that more than 400 stall holders have registered themselves in this fair. Through this fair, information about new species and new technologies of the university will be made available to the farmers, which will make the farmer prosperous. Organic farming will be a special centre of attraction in this fair in which information about organic farming will be made available to farmers and by adopting this farming, farmers will be blessed with a healthy body. He told that last year wheat production in the university has increased by 20 percent. He put forth his views on many aspects to take the university to the global level. He told that 55 thousand students are increasing the reputation of the university not only in the country but also abroad by obtaining degrees from the university. He said that efforts will be made to make the women of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes prosperous by providing them training through Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The Vice Chancellor told that our aim is to provide good seeds of new varieties to the farmers.
He told that MoU has been signed with Pantnagar University, St. Petersburg University and MoU has been agreed with three universities of Russia, so that students and scientists from both the universities will be able to exchange teaching and research. On this occasion, Director of International Affairs Dr. Shiva Prasad, Dean Postgraduate Dr. K. were present with the Vice Chancellor. P. Raverkar, Head of Department of Animal Extension Dr. S.C. Tripathi also shared their experiences with everyone.
