Today on 25.10.2024, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Banka organized a field day of peanut (variety-Kadri Lepakshi) in Sato village of Chandan block, in which more than 300 farmers participated. Its main objective is that people should see this new variety of crop and awareness should increase.

Starting the program, the senior scientist and head of the center told in detail about the demonstration of peanut in Sato village and said that earlier the farmers here did not want to adopt the new crop. After training and regular visits by the scientists here, this work was successful and the crop is also in very good condition.

Addressing the farmers in this programme, Co-Director Extension Education, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour said that KVK motivates farmers to do farming through new technology through training and demonstration, which increases their production and productivity. If people do farming through new technology along with traditional farming, then it will have a far reaching impact and their income will definitely increase.

Dr. Fiza Ahmed, Director Seed and Field said that all the seven villages are full of natural beauty and there is a lot of possibility of horticultural crops here. Lack of horticultural crops was seen in this village. He said that guava crop can be produced well here. He said that if the people here are interested, then improved variety of guava plant will be given. He also said that the people here should prepare the students studying in intermediate for agricultural education, so that they can get enrolled in B.Sc. (Agriculture) through entrance examination and pursue further education. On one hand, this will increase the enthusiasm of people to work in the field of agriculture, on the other hand, other students will be able to move forward in the field of agricultural education by taking inspiration from it. He said that if the farmers here want to produce seeds in the Rabi season, then improved variety of seeds will be made available by the university and the produced seeds will also be purchased by the university at a price higher than the market price.

Dr. D. R. Singh, Honorable Vice Chancellor of Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, who came as the chief guest of the program, congratulated and wished the farmers who adopted a new crop like peanut in such a remote area and announced the adoption of seven villages. He directed the subordinate officials to conduct a complete survey of seven villages, which should contain complete information of every house and every family. He also directed to create a WhatsApp group for this. He said that Krishi Vigyan Kendra is always ready to provide proper training and technical guidance to the farmers. Rabi season crops are yet to be planted, and he was asked to contact Krishi Vigyan Kendra for planting the crops in a scientific manner. He said that the Bihar government is also trying to improve the condition of the farmers and for this, public awareness is being spread through the Agriculture Road Map series. As a result of this, today the production of many food items has increased. The farmers who have adopted farming with new technology and have included other components along with agriculture, their income has increased. In view of the difficulty faced by the farmers in going to Krishi Vigyan Kendra regarding training, he said that the scientists of the center will come here and provide training on the related subject. To encourage the farmers here, he suggested to visit Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour and said that if the farmers here are interested, a bus will be sent from the university and they should stay in the university for two days and visit all the units and learn the methods of farming by seeing, because learning by seeing is easy. While discussing women empowerment, he said that the university is also working in this direction. He said that women empowerment can be made meaningful only by skill. He directed to give training on the related subject to the interested women.

Before this, the Vice Chancellor also saw the demonstration of lac in Bengalgarh and he was very impressed by it. He talked about doing research on lac and said that very little research has been done in this field. By doing research, it will be expanded further and efforts will be made to develop it as a brand. He visited various units especially the technical park in Krishi Vigyan Kendra Banka and it was highly appreciated.

On this occasion, Deputy Director Training Dr. Abhay Mankar also addressed the farmers and praised the demonstration of peanut crop. On this occasion, the center’s Agricultural Engineering Scientist E. Raviranjan Kumar, Soil Scientist Mr. Sanjay Kumar Mandal, Agricultural Extension Scientist Dr. Neha Singh and Animal Scientist Dr. Sanjit Kumar also listened to the problems of the farmers related to their respective subjects and told their solutions.
