ICAR-CAZRI, RRS Jaisalmer, successfully organized a Field Day and Kisan Goshthi on March 12, 2025 under the DBT KISAN Biotech Project, on the harvesting, threshing, grading, and storage of Cumin and Isabgol at demonstrator farmers’ fields in Amar Sagar, Sawala, and Chandan villages. The event aimed to equip farmers with scientific knowledge and best practices to enhance post-harvest management and reduce losses. The event was conducted by a team of scientists, including Dr. R.S. Mehta, Dr. S.C. Meena, Dr. Shiran K., and Dr. Anil Patidar, and witnessed the participation of more than 15 farmers. During the Field Day, scientists conducted a thorough assessment of crop health, evaluating growth patterns, disease prevalence, and insect pest infestations. They provided expert recommendations on improving harvesting techniques, maintaining seed quality, and ensuring proper post-harvest handling to minimize losses. The interactive session allowed farmers to share their experiences and seek solutions to challenges faced during the cropping season. The scientists emphasized the importance of timely harvesting, the use of mechanized threshing methods, and safe storage practices to ensure better marketability and profitability. The Field Day and Kisan Goshthi concluded with farmers appreciating the valuable insights provided by ICAR-CAZRI scientists. The program reinforced the institute’s commitment to empowering farmers with improved agricultural techniques for better productivity and sustainability in arid regions.
