The Deputy Commissioner of Ropar, Ms Preety Yadav, IAS, took a significant step towards enhancing agricultural services by visiting Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ropar today as a part of the government initiative to streamline agricultural services through the Krishi Sewa App, which aims to provide a single online platform showcasing all government agricultural facilities, including KVKs. This innovative app will enable farmers to access services online and stay informed about departmental activities.
Accompanying Ms Yadav were Dr Satbir Singh, Deputy Director of KVK Ropar, Ms Meenu Dheer, Joint Director of NIELTS Ropar, Sh. Girija Shankar, District Development Fellow of Ropar, and Dr Gurbachan Singh, CAO of Ropar. Together, they convened at KVK to assess the potential benefits and practicality of the Krishi Sewa App.
Following their meeting, Ms Yadav toured various laboratories and demonstration units at KVK’s office premises and farm. She was particularly impressed with the in-situ crop residue management facilities available at KVK. The team also commended KVK’s efforts in promoting oilseeds, millets, pulses, and leguminous fodder crops through informative demonstrations. Additionally, they expressed a keen interest in agroforestry, horticulture, and livestock units and engaged in a productive discussion on utilizing the non-conventional feed resource Azolla for livestock.
In her concluding remarks, Ms Yadav recognized the pivotal role played by KVK Ropar in fostering the growth of agricultural and allied enterprises in the region. The visit concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Satbir Singh, Deputy Director (Training) of KVK Ropar.
