The ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna organized a capacity-building event on rice fallow management for livelihood improvement for SC farmers under the SCSP program on September 3, 2024, at Gulariya Chak, Tikari block, Gaya (Bihar). A team of scientists, including Dr. Rakesh Kumar (Senior Scientist), Dr. P.K. Sundaram (Senior Scientist), Dr. Pawan Jeet (Scientist), Dr Abhishek Dubey (Scientist), Shri. Debendra Mandal (Assistant Professor), Dr. Kalam Agricultural College (BAU), Kishanganj, Bihar), Dr. Bikash Sarkar (Principal Scientist), and Monaj Kumar Sinha (Technical Assistant), interacted with the farmers about rice fallow management.
Dr. Pawan Jeet and his team members explained the benefits and significance of drone technology and conducted a live demonstration of a drone in a paddy field. Additionally, 50 numbers centrifugal water pumps (1 hp) were provided to 50 SC rice growers. Around 60 SC farmers were attended including farm women and youths, from Gulariya Chak village in Tikari Block, Gaya District. At the end of the event, the farmers expressed their interest in more frequent scientific activities to support the adoption of rice fallow management.
