Banaras Hindu University (BHU) organized a transformative training session titled “Work Smarter: Artificial Intelligence (AI) /ChatGPT in Daily Office Operations,” under the aegis of the Staff Development Cell (SDC). Designed to empower non-teaching staff, the session aimed to provide practical strategies for leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to streamline tasks and elevate workplace efficiency.

The session was inaugurated by Prof. S.K. Dubey, Coordinator, SDC who welcomed the participants and emphasized the growing importance of AI in modern professional environments. He encouraged attendees to make the most of the session and adopt AI-driven tools for optimizing office operations. The session was led by Raj Kumar Soni, Assistant Registrar, amember of the SDC and the Nodal Officer for iGOT Karmayogi for non-teaching staff.

Mr. Soni delivered a comprehensive and engaging presentation on the fundamentals of AI, starting with an explanation of how AI works. He detailed foundational models, including language models for text-based tasks, image recognition models for interpreting visuals, and speech recognition models that convert spoken language into text. The participants explored AI applications ranging from predictive and decision-making models to sentiment analysis for understanding emotional context, generative models for creating content, and data analysis models for identifying patterns and insights in large datasets.

The session also highlighted ChatGPT’s powerful capabilities, showcasing how it can draft emails, organize data into tables, write reports, solve complex queries, translate languages, and create diverse content formats. Practical demonstrations included drafting professional letters, preparing presentations, creating summaries, and even managing multilingual translations. Participants also engaged in hands-on activities, enhancing their understanding of user prompts and refining techniques to maximize ChatGPT’s potential.

In addition to exploring ChatGPT, Mr. Soni introduced participants to tools like Microsoft Copilot and Adobe Firefly, along with the applications of machine learning and deep learning in office settings. He also emphasized the importance of completing three mandatory UGC courses available on the iGOT Karmayogi platform: Introduction to Emerging Technologies, ChatGPT and Generative AI, and AI Using Google and ChatGPT.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A and a practical assessment where participants successfully applied their learning to solve queries and draft professional documents. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the session’s clarity, depth, and relevance. Participants noted the transformative impact of the training on their ability to manage workloads, improve accuracy, and adopt innovative solutions for daily tasks.

This training session reflects BHU’s commitment to equipping its workforce with cutting-edge skills and advancing digital literacy. By fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability, BHU ensures its staff is well-prepared for the future of work.
