An awareness workshop on Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) Scheme was organized today by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhenkanal, Odisha in collaboration with Agricultural Skills Council of India (ASCI), German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute (ATARI), Kolkata. The program was organized in hybrid mode. The workshop was aimed at making small farmers and women farmers aware of the possibilities of Agricultural Solar Energy (AgriPV) as well as providing them necessary support under PM-KUSUM scheme.
Dr. Pradeep Dey, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata, said that adoption of these energy sources will not only increase agricultural production but will also reduce environmental pollution, as well as reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources. Adoption of renewable energy sources will improve society and human health. Dr. Dey described PM KUSUM Yojana as one of the largest clean energy initiatives in the world and urged farmers to come forward to avail the benefits of this revolutionary scheme.
Dr. Santosh Kumar Panda, Regional Head, ASCI apprised the participants about the scheme as well as detailed technical details.
Dr. Bimalendu Mahanti, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dhenkanal appealed to the participants to understand the schemes in depth and take maximum advantage of these in agriculture and allied sectors.
Shri Bhakta Charan Dhir, Assistant Director Research, Regional Research and Technology Transfer Station, Mahisapat, Shri Subrata Kumar Padhi, Chief District Agriculture Officer, Dhenkanal and Dr. Deepak Sarangi, Assistant District Veterinary Officer, Dhenkanal also shared their views on the occasion.
Around 39 progressive farmers from various blocks of Dhenkanal district enthusiastically participated in the awareness workshop. A Q&A session was also organized in the workshop.
