One day Capacity Building Programme on Crop Diversification and Input Distribution to the Farmers under SCSP has been organized at CHES (ICAR-IIHR), Chettalli on 19th March, 2025. Dr. Muralidhara B.M., Scientist (Fruit Scientist), CHES, Chettalli, has welcomed all the guests and the gathering and also briefed about the programme. The Guest of Honour Mr. Prabhakara B., Head, KVK, Gonikoppal has appreciated the efforts of of CHES, Chettalli in organizing the programme on crop diversification and distribution of various planting materials and inputs to the farming community. The Chief Guest Mr. Dhanu Kumar, Field Officer, Organization for the Development of People, Siddapura has highlighted involvement of CHES, Chettalli and KVK, Gonikoppal in organizing various programmes to the farming community of Kodagu District and also emphasized the proper utilization of the distributed input resources. Dr. Rajendiran S., Senior Scientist and Head, CHES, Chettalli has presided over the programme and highlighted the activities of the station and various programmes organized for the farming community in recent past. He has also spoken on importance and advantages of crop diversification in sustainability, livelihood and nutritional security.
The technical session has been conducted with lectures on Fruit Crops Diversification in Kodagu Region by Dr. Muralidhara B.M., Scientist (Fruit Scientist), CHES, Chettalli. Then Farmer-Scientists Interaction has been arranged. Then planting materials (Avocado var. Arka Supreme- 5 Nos., Avocado seedlings- 2 Nos.; Litchi- 2 Nos.; Velvet Apple- 4 Nos., Rose apple-2 Nos., Malayan Apple- 2 Nos.; Cocoa- 6 Nos.; Malabar Tamarind- 2 Nos., Kokum-5 Nos., Dragon Fruit- 2Nos., Cherry Guava-1 No., Black pepper- 2 Nos., Egg Fruit-1 No., and Carambola- 1 No. to each farmer) and other inputs (AMC – 4 kg; Trichoderma harzianum culture- 4 kg; Citrus Special- 4 kg; and 19 ALL- 5 kg to each farmer) were distributed to the 100 SC farmers of the Kodagu District.
