Report: Awareness Programme on ‘Seaweed value added products’ was conducted at Value added Fish products preparation unit, Kolambe, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra on 13th April, 2023. It was organized by Agri Business Incubation (ABI) Center, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai for women self help group members from different SHG’s. A total of 52 participants attended the training program. Dr. B. B. Nayak, PS, FRHPHM, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai had interaction with all the trainees & explained future scope for value added fish and seaweed products. Also, explained marketing of fermented mackerels prepared during last training program conducted.

Dr. G. Deshmukhe, Ex-HoD & PS, FRHPHM, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai explained about different varieties of seaweeds available along Ratnagiri coast, seaweed selection, value added seaweed products and marketing scope. All the trainees practically learned fermented mackerel preparation and packaging. During training, the ABI team; Mr. Jagannath Wankhedkar, District Co-ordinating Officer, Mahila Arthik Vikas Mahamandal District office – Ratnagiri and CMRC team; Mr. Bhushan Jadhav, Livelihood Manager, Clima Crew, Mumbai discussed with trainees about seaweed culture, value added products from seaweed and future scope. After an interactive session, programme was concluded with the vote of thanks from Mrs. Snehal Parab, SRF, NAIF-ABI, ICAR-CIFE, Mumbai & Mrs. Yogita Bhatkar, Sahayogini, CMRC, Ratnagiri.
