Field Day on Frontline Demonstration on Weed Management in Zero Tillage Maize was organized by Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar at Kurmapally Village of Raikal Mandal of Jagtial District on 21st April, 2023 with the financial assistance of All India Coordinated Maize Improvement Project. Dr.P.Madhukar Rao, Scientist (Agro.) has welcomed all the dignitaries and farmers and briefed the major theme of organizing the meeting. He detailed the post harvest management strategies to be followed in maize for acquiring good market price. Dr.G.Usharani, Scientist (Pl.Br.) has explained the characters of the different hybrids released from the Agricultural Research Station, Karimnagar and Maize ResEARCH Centre, Rajendranagar and good agricultural practices for reaping higher benefits in maize crop. Dr.M. Rajendra Prasad, Scientist (Crop Protection) of DAATTC, Karimnagar has informed the pests and diseases incidence and their control measures especially Fall Army Worm management and wild boar management strategies in different crops. Pre-emergence herbicides, Atrataf (500 g) and Paraquat (1 litre) and Laudis (115 ml) have been given to the interested 25 farmers involved in the cultivation of zero tillage maize and their opinions on weed management using herbicides has been collected. The farmers have been encouraged to make Youtube subscriptions for PJTSAU Agricultural Videos for knowing the latest technologies and timely need based agricultural activities in various crops. The Village Sarpanch, Sri. Mekala Sumalatha Rayamallu, Upasarpanch, Sri Pulla Mallesham, Panchayat Secretary Member Bomma Srinivas, Agricultural Extension Officer, Smt. Sumalatha, Progressive farmers, Sri. Shankar, Sri. Mallesham and around 50 farmers have participated in the programme.
