In a joint initiative to assist flood-affected farmers in the region, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU)-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sangrur, in collaboration with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, organized a backyard poultry input distribution programme at villages Hotipur and Nawangaon in Sangrur district. The event was held under the guidance of Dr. Mandeep Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK Sangrur, with financial assistance from the teaching and non-teaching associations of GADVASU and support from the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU, and GADVASU.
The programme involved the distribution of poultry chicks, feed, and wire mesh nets to beneficiaries. Dr. Parteek Singh Dhaliwal, Assistant Professor (VAHEE), provided expert guidance on the care and management of poultry birds and shared valuable tips for marketing under the backyard poultry system, empowering farmers to generate sustainable livelihoods.
Sh. Daljit Singh, President of the Non-Teaching Association, along with representatives from the Teaching Association of GADVASU, were also present to encourage the beneficiaries.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Mandeep Singh highlighted the importance of utilizing farmer-friendly resources and technologies offered by KVK Sangrur. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to GADVASU’s associations and all participants for their contributions, which made the initiative successful.
