KVK, Bathinda conducted mushroom training course from 16.09.2024 to 23.09.2024. 50 students participated in it. PAU-Krishi Science Center Deputy Director Dr. In his address during the training, Gurdeep Singh Sidhu encouraged to adopt this training as a profession and said that the purpose of this vocational training is to enable farmers/youths to stand on their own feet and contribute to increasing the household income. In which Dhingri Khumb, Button Khumb, Prali Khumb, Sitaki Khumb, Milki Khumb were enlightened so that every learner is aware of every aspect such as various techniques of composting, kensing, spawning were given in detail.
He told that we can start mushroom cultivation from one room. Due to which its cultivation can become a means of employment for rural and urban people. If we talk about its production, 10 kg of compost or 1-1.5 kg of mushroom can be produced from one square meter. This means that one envelope worth Rs 100-150 worth of mushrooms can be produced. Dr. Jaswinder Kaur Brar explained the method of making pickled mushrooms. Dr. Vinay Singh Pathania shared information about mushroom pest management. Dr. Reena Garg (Horticultural Development Officer) informed about the various schemes of the department. Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhillon ji promoted canning and marketing.
