ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources, Lucknow, organized an awareness-cum-Input distribution programme in collaboration with ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak, Dirang, West Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh, today. The programme, conducted under the Scheduled Tribe Components, aimed to promote aquaculture in the hill region of the North-East.
Dr U.K. Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NBFGR, emphasized the role of aquaculture in improving livelihoods.
Dr Mihir Sarkar, Director, ICAR-NRC on Yak, highlighted the importance of fish farming in the hilly region.
The event featured expert discussions on sustainable fish farming techniques suitable for hilly areas. Experts provided detailed explanations on fish farming techniques, contributing to the goal of enhancing fish production and farmer income through scientific and sustainable practices.
More than 59 fish farmers participated, and received critical inputs such as Amur carp and Indian major carp (IMC) fingerlings, lime, fish feed, and solar lanterns during the programme.
