A vocational training course on “Mushroom Cultivation as a Subsidiary Occupation” was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Mansa under the leadership of Directorate of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University from 2nd September to 6th September.

During this course, Dr. Tejpal Singh, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), KVK, discussed the possibilities of mushroom cultivation, nutritional value of mushrooms, cultivation practices of different types of mushrooms, pests and diseases of mushrooms and their Delivered lectures on management, transportation, marketing, and economics. Participants were given practical training on various steps involved in compost preparation and casing soil preparation for button mushroom cultivation.

Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Mansa asked the trainees to incorporate the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their ventures and assured all help for future endeavours. At the end, the trainees visited the mushroom unit of progressive farmer Paramjit Singh at village Kalipur.
