The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bahowal, Hoshiarpur under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana regularly conducts various vocational training courses to promote subsidiary occupations. Under this series, a vocational training programme on “Goat Farming” was conducted at KVK premises from August 19-23. In this training, 74 rural youth, farmers and farm women participated.
During this training, Dr Parminder Singh, Associate Professor (Animal Science), KVK, Hoshiarpur gave detailed lectures and demonstrations on various topics of goat farming including breeding, rearing of goats, housing and equipment.
Dr Karnail Singh, Veterinary Officer, Department of Animal Husbandry, Hoshiarpur shared the tips for the prevention of goat diseases. He also gave detailed information about various schemes regarding animal husbandry for the welfare of farming community.
Sh Vikas Bhanot, Branch Manager, SBI, Mahilpur shared information regarding loan facilities for livestock owners.
During the concluding function, Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur enlightened the trainees about the services rendered by the KVK for the betterment of the farming community and exhorted them to adopt subsidiary occupations for augmenting their income.
