PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hoshiarpur, organized a Farmer Training Camp for lead farmers in collaboration with Centre for International Projects Trust, New Delhi, on July 10, 2024 at its campus. Dr. Hardeep Kumar, Field Operations Manager, CIPT, extended a cordial welcome to the experts, farmers and farm women. He shared the objectives of his agency, highlighting the chief motive of the training as ‘awareness generation among farmers regarding resource conservation technologies in kharif crops’.
Dr Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), KVK, Hoshiarpur, outlined the diverse activities of KVK Hoshiarpur that were meticulously designed for the welfare of the farming community. Dr. Bons also spoke on the need for adopting subsidiary occupations along with farming for complementing farm income and exhorted the trainees to avail the services of the KVK through ongoing vocational trainings. He sensitized the farmers and farm women regarding available social media platforms promoted by PAU, Ludhiana, for agricultural knowledge upgradation.
Experts from KVK Hoshiarpur – Dr. Parminder Singh, Associate Professor (Animal Science), Dr. Gurpratap Singh, Associate Professor (Agronomy), Dr. Ajaib Singh, Assistant Professor (Agricultural Engineering) and Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), guided the farmers on dairy animal management, integrated nutrient, weed and pest management, besides sharing information on resource conservation technologies in kharif crops, especially water conservation practices.
Dr. Navdeep Kaur, Training Coordinator, Dr. Sakshi Sharma, Manager Research & MIS and Mr. Angrej Singh, Senior Supervisor, were also present on behalf of CIPT. The participating farmers were also shown different demonstrations at KVK farm, particularly, the demonstration on Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR).
