The Kairon Kisan Ghar at PAU, Ludhiana, came alive with joy and camaraderie as faculty, staff, and students gathered to celebrate the traditional festival of Lohri. The event, graced by Vice Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, was a vibrant affair filled with festive treats such as moongfali, gachak, and reori.
Vice Chancellor Dr Gosal spoke about the symbolism of the Lohri bonfire, representing the burning of evil and the ushering in of prosperity. He stressed the importance of rekindling bonds with family and friends during the festival, connecting it to the dedication and hard work that should be brought into one’s work at PAU as a form of gratitude.
Dr Jagwinder Singh, Editor of Punjabi, shared the historical significance of the Punjabi winter festival, emphasizing the importance of preserving traditions, especially among the younger generation.
Dr Ashoo Toor, Assistant Professor of English, underscored the reverence for PAU as a second home, urging everyone to work together as a team and pray for the continued glory of the institution. PAU student Harman recited a self-composed poem, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
Earlier, Additional Director Communication, Dr Tejinder Singh Riar, welcomed the guests, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the departments of Extension Education and the Communication Centre.
Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head of the Department of Extension Education, extended gratitude in his vote of thanks.
The festivities included enjoying joy, laughter, and dancing around the bonfire, infusing the gathering with a lively and celebratory spirit. The event wrapped up with a communal lunch, further strengthening the sense of community and unity among all those present.
