Pantnagar. 29 June 2024. The two-day meeting of the 12th Extension Advisory Committee of the Directorate of Extension Education of the University was held today at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lohaghat (Champawat) under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan.
Vice Chancellor Dr. Chauhan stressed the need for scientists to develop technology to prevent mangoes from spoiling and to store them for a long time. He said that there is a need to make small innovations so that farmers can increase their income by adopting them. He said that the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras can present the demand for package of practices before the Director of Research for various climate and environmental changes for different crops. He said that the scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendras have to be connected to the mainstream of research and training going on in the university. He said that the traditional knowledge that farmers have is also necessary to be used. He said that the use of pesticides should be minimized in all vegetable and fruit production. There is a need to boost the morale of the scientists working at Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The Vice Chancellor also observed crops like tomato, capsicum, cucumber, strawberry etc. grown under protected cultivation at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lohaghat. Special guest Commanding Officer Mr. Rawat honored Vice Chancellor Dr. Manmohan Singh Chauhan. Director Research Dr. A.S. Nain presented the research achievements of the university in detail. He said that the techniques developed by the university can be adopted by farmers. On this occasion, Director Extension Education Dr. Jitendra Kwatra, Director, Uttarakhand Biotechnology, Turmeric Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Dean Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Dr. S.P. Singh, Dean Technology Dr. Alakhnanda Ashok, Dean Science and Humanities Dr. Sandeep Arora, Dean Fisheries Dr. Awadhesh Kumar, Director Communication Dr. J. P. Jaiswal, Chief General Manager Farm, Dr. Jayant Singh, Joint Director Extension Education, Dr. Sanjay Chaudhary, Joint Director, Dr. Subhash Chandra, Dean, Dr. Aditi Vats as representative of Community Science, Dr. Sneha Dohre as representative of Agri Business Management; Incharges of 9 Krishi Vigyan Kendras and all the scientists and progressive farmers of Krishi Vigyan Kendras were present.
