World Intellectual Property Day celebration was organized at ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur on 30 April 2024. The program focused on the relevance of intellectual property management in agriculture. In which lectures, discussions and presentations were given. Dr. P.K. Singh, Principal Scientist and Incharge Institute Technology Management Unit (ITMU), while warmly welcoming all the guests, scientists, technical officers, employees and students present in the program, threw light in detail on the history and significance of Sampada Diwas.
Director of the institute, Dr. Mishra, while discussing the efforts of the institute in intellectual property management, underlined the important role of intellectual property in agriculture and agribusiness. In this context, he stressed the importance of World Intellectual Property Day and said that the day provides an opportunity to highlight the importance of Intellectual Property (IP) in promoting economic growth, promoting innovation and protecting the rights of inventors. The key speaker in the program was Dr. Sunil Bhaskar Rao Nahatkar, retired Professor and Head, and Director, Institute of Agribusiness Management, JNKVV, Jabalpur on Patent, Copy Right, Trade Mark, Industrial Design, G.I. . Shares his extensive knowledge on tags, trade secrets and IP filings, highlighting key points through multiple case studies.
He also provided information on online e-filing of IP applications, showcasing the efficiency and accessibility of contemporary IP filing processes. He further explained that the objective of the World Intellectual Day celebration is to raise awareness about the role of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in encouraging innovation and creativity.
After the presentation, various intellectual property topics were discussed. All the scientists, officers, employees and students of the institute actively participated in the program and shared their experiences.
