ICAR-Directorate of Poultry Research celebrated World Egg Day 2024 today under the theme “United by Eggs.” The event emphasized how eggs unite people worldwide through their importance in nutrition, sustainability, and cultural significance.
The Chief Guest, Dr Balaswamy, a renowned promoter of eggs, emphasized the value of eggs as a superfood, praising its high nutritional content and affordability. He stressed the importance of eggs in improving human diets.
The Guest Speaker, Dr S. Ravinder Reddy, provided insights into the global and Indian trends in egg production and consumption, noting the significant role poultry plays in ensuring nutrition security and boosting the economy.
Dr U. Rajkumar, Head, Division of Poultry Genetics and Breeding, spoke about ICAR’s contributions in promoting egg production in India and its role in the growth of the poultry industry.
The staff and students of the Directorate, poultry industry experts, and students from the Veterinary College participated in the event.
