ICAR-National Institute of Natural Fibre Engineering and Technology, Kolkata, organized a workshop on ‘Instrumental jute grading system’ here today as part of the National Natural Fibre Festival.

Dr K. Narsaiah, Assistant Director General (Process Engineering) ICAR, urged the scientists to develop portable, user-friendly instruments for farmers.

Dr D B Shakyawar, Director, ICAR-NINFET, highlighted recent advancements, particularly the development of an AI-IoT-enabled jute grading instrument and the institute’s efforts in disseminating BIS-approved digital grading instruments.

Shri Jintu Das, Director, Department of Jute Development, emphasized the advantages of using digital instruments at the farmer level. He also highlighted the portable digital grading instruments developed by the institute for use by both farmers and industries.

A leaflet on an AI-IoT-enabled jute grading system was launched during the workshop.

Dr Nageshkumar, T., Dr Prateek Shrivastava, and Dr Avijit Das coordinated the workshop.

The workshop was attended by representatives from jute mills, manufacturers, and academics from various institutes.
