A workshop on “Homology modelling, virtual screening of compounds and docking” was organized by Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Kamdhenu University, Anand in collaboration with “ALTEM Technologies, Bengaluru” on 6th January, 2024 at 3.00 pm in the Conference Hall of Veterinary College, Anand in the august presence of Dr. D.B. Patil, Director of Research and Dean PG Studies, Kamdhenu University, Dr. P.H. Tank, Principal and Dean, C.V.Sc. & A.H., K.U., Anand, Dr. D. M. Bhayani, In-charge Principal and Dr. S.K. Bhavsar, Professor and Head, Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, C.V.Sc. & A.H., K.U., Anand. Dr. Sakshi Bhardwaj, Application Scientist and Mr. Sharvil Raje, Business Development Executive represented the ALTEM Technologies, Bengaluru. A total of 65 faculty members and students attended the workshop in online and offline mode. It was organized to make the academicians and students to be aware regarding “BIOVIA Discovery Studio” software, which is used in early stage of drug discovery for virtual screening of drug test compounds. Dr. P.H. Tank, Principal and Dean, C.V.Sc. & A.H., K.U., Anand welcomed all the delegates and address the key points used to describe the role of pharmacologists in drug discovery and wished all the members to utilize this software knowledge in making the university in progress. Dr. D. M. Bhayani, In-charge Principal, C.V.Sc. & A.H., K.U., Anand addressed the gathering and gave information regarding phases of drug discovery process, utility of software in predicting pharmacological or toxicological properties of compounds in initial stage based on structure activity relationship. Dr. Sakshi Bhardwaj narrated the topics in detail and discussed the points that make this specific software more useful. She explained mechanism of homology modelling in detail. She demonstrated whole docking process of test compound using virtual screening method. Question answer session was conducted by Dr. K.A. Sadariya, Assistant Professor, Department of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology, C.V.Sc. & A.H., K.U., Anand. At last, Dr. S.K. Bhavsar Proposed vote of thanks and appreciated the way of presentation of Scientist and thanked all the faculty members and students for making event successful. Dr. V.N. Sarvaiya, Assistant Professor, Department of Vet. Pharmacology and Toxicology, C.V.Sc. & A.H., K.U., Anand, served as the workshop’s anchor and compilator.
