Giving further impetus to the ongoing plantation drive at 12.07.2024 the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), a plantation drive ‘Wake Up Ludhiana’ launched by the Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana was organized in the University premises to encourage tree plantation and create awareness about different tree species during the monsoon season.

On this occasion, MLA Sh Gurpreet Gogi; PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal and University Registrar Mr Rishi Pal Singh planted ornamental tress, namely Sterculia, Kachnar, Bottle brush, Amaltas, Golden rain tree and Nili Gulmohar.

A former Professor and Head, Department of Floriculture and Landscaping Dr HS Grewal had donated Rs 50,000/- for this plantation drive, which the University used for boundary plantation towards Ferozepur road.

Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Dr Rishi Indra Singh Gill, Estate Officer of the University, said that the plantation drive was held on the directions of the District Administration. “PAU has always been environment-conscious and working tirelessly for the upliftment of the campus surroundings. Maintaining and upkeeping the Ludhiana campus clean and green has been PAU’s forte,” he stated. Later, Dr Gill proposed a vote of thanks.
