Dr. According to the guidelines of Gurdeep Singh Deputy Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mansa, a village level camp was organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mansa on 19.10.2023 at village Heerewala of district Mansa regarding straw conservation. At the beginning of the camp, Madam Rajinder Kaur, Associate Professor (Plant Science) shed light on the activities of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khokhar Khurd, Mansa. He said that this center conducts vocational training programs to encourage farmer heroes, youth and farmer women towards supporting occupations. Apart from this, this center also provides improved seeds of various crop varieties provided by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to the farmers. Dr. Ashok Kumar Garg, Assistant Professor (Soil Science) shared ideas about using chemical fertilizers in rabi crops by conducting soil and water testing to the farmers. He shared information about the injection of fertilizer to the organism that planted the wheat seed. Eng. Alok Gupta, Assistant Professor (Soil & Water Engg.) made the farmers aware about the machinery used for stubble management. He explained in detail about the surface seeder, smart seeder developed by Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana while advising the farmers to plow paddy stubble in the field. Dr. BS Sekhon, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science) during the camp emphasized on the use of paddy straw as mulch in vegetable and fruit gardens and university recommendations on using straw as mulch in various crops. enlightened More than 70 farmer heroes participated in this village level camp and the questions of the farmers were answered satisfactorily by the experts.
