A two-day Farmers Fair-cum-Exhibition 2024 has been organized on 14 and 15 March 2024 under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan in the premises of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lodipur, Arwal. Today, on March 14, 2024, the Kisan Fair-cum-Exhibition 2024 was auspiciously inaugurated by lighting the lamp on the first day with the lotus flowers of Dr. Duniya Ram Singh ji, Honorable Vice Chancellor, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour. On the occasion, Dr. RK Sohane, Director of Extension Education, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Dr. Dharamveer Singh, Principal Scientist of ICAR-ATARI, Zone-4, Patna, Leading District Manager, Punjab National Bank, Arwal, Deputy Project Director, Atma, Arwal, District Fisheries Officer, Arwal, District Rural Development Officer Arwal and officials of other agriculture related departments of the district along with senior scientist and head of the centre, Dr. Anita Kumari addressed the farmers.
In the said fair, farmers were made aware of various new technologies and equipment through stalls, which included Sudha (Comfed), Agricultural Science Centre, Home Science of Arwal, Plant Protection, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry, Climate Friendly Agriculture Programme, Betel Research Centre, Products manufactured by women and stalls of all agriculture related departments were included and a garden exhibition was also organised. A total of 900 farmers participated on the first day of the fair.
On the occasion, Dr. Anita Kumari, Senior Scientist and Head, spoke about the Scheduled Caste sub-plan running at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Arwal, the climate-friendly agriculture program running in five villages, frontline monitoring, group frontline monitoring, malnutrition eradication program. Told the farmers in detail. After that, various schemes and sub-plans were discussed by District Rural Development Officer Arwal. The Fisheries Department official mentioned the government schemes related to fish production, under which farmers can get good income by producing fish through biofloc method. The Horticulture Officer advised to cultivate moong and green manure in the summer season. The leading bank manager of Arwal district explained in detail about Kisan Credit Card related to farming as well as the contribution of banks in creating industry from farming. The in-charge of Betel Research Centre, Islampur told about increasing additional income by cultivating medicinal plants as intercrops along with the main crop under crop diversification. Principal Scientist Dr. Dharamveer Singh encouraged the farmers to adopt new technologies through exhibitions organized in the fair. Director Extension Education informed the farmers about the toll free number 18003456455 to take the technologies of the university to the doorstep of the farmers, through which the farmers can get solutions to their problems. Honorable Vice Chancellor, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, in his presidential address gave useful suggestions to increase the income of farmers, in which there is immense potential for maize production in Kharif season in Arwal district, through which farmers can get better income by producing ethanol. At the same time, he stressed on linking the marketing of fruits, flowers, vegetables and local poultry to Arwal farmers with Patna market. He added medicinal plants along with greens to the nutritious garden. He also urged the farmers not to send their children to the medical-engineering crowd and encourage them to lean towards agricultural education so that they become job creators and not employment takers. He also inspired the farmers to join FPO. He also added on increasing the area of oat crop in the district.
In the said program, important information was given in the technical session by scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jehanabad, scientists of Paan Research Center, Islampur and scientists of the center, Dr. Uday Prakash Narayan, Dr. Kavita Dalmia, Mr. Ajay Kumar Das. In making the said program successful, the employees of the center like Mr. Prashant Kumar Sinha, Mr. Kundan Kumar, Mrs. Kumari Jyoti, Mr. Shyam Sundar Ram, Mr. Ashok Das and Mr. Ranjan Kumar Das played an important role.
