The ICAR- Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organized a three day training programme on “Empowering Farm women through Improved Livestock and Poultry farming” through Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) during 08-10 January 2025 under Scheduled Caste Sub Plan Programme. The aim of the training programme was to aware about improved scientific technologies to farm women in Animal Husbandry sector like dairy, goatery, poultry etc. The training programme was a kind of foundation programme to make the women aware about concept of CHC and how to manage it to get maximum benefit by use of tools and machineries. A series of lectures were delivered to transfer technical knowhow in livestock sector to the trainees in three day training programme. During the training programme, Dr Mridula Devi, Director, ICAR CIWA detailed the ongoing activities of this unique institution highlighting the objective and mission of ICAR-CIWA and importance women led Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) working in animal husbandry sector for the benefit of farm women. During the three day training, scientists of the institute shared knowledge and experience to integrate with CHC for entrepreneurship development. Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Head, Division of Gender Family and Community Studies, Dr B. Sahoo, Pr. Scientist and Dr. Arpita Mohapatra, Scientist demonstrated various tools, models and animal husbandry practices for improved dairy, goatery and poultry farming. Dr. S.K.Sarangi, Head, Division of Agricultural Technologies for Women, ICAR-CIWA led the dissemination of technologies related to agriculture and allied sectors especially, Potato cultivation, food processing, nutri garden, farm machinery, fishery. A total of 26 participants, consisting of both men and women, actively participated in the training programme and were awarded certificates by the Director, ICAR-CIWA, upon successful completion of the programme.
