Pantnagar. 13 July 2024 The institute organized advanced animal husbandry and management training of dairy animals from July 10-13, 2024. On the occasion of inauguration, Director Extension Education and SAMETI, Dr. Jitendra Kwatra said that animal husbandry is such a business, through which farmers can increase their income by two to four times. He especially advised quick income enhancement through value-added products of milk like khoya, paneer, cheese, ice cream, sweets. Head of Department, Livestock Production Management Dr. R.K. Sharma told the farmers present that through advanced animal husbandry management, not only the quantity of milk from your animals can be increased but also with the availability of sufficient cow dung manure, one can go on the path of organic farming. SAMETI Coordinator Dr. B.D. Singh, Professor (Agronomy) welcomed the guests and participants present and also discussed in detail about the various programs conducted by the Samiti, outline of trainings etc. In the training, the scientists of the College of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Sciences gave detailed information about how to start a new dairy and the things to be kept in mind, animal housing and balanced diet management, breed improvement and breeding methods in animals, reproductive disorders in animals, care of pregnant animals and newborn animal management, economic accounting of dairy production, major diseases of animals, causes and prevention, importance of clean milk production and its various products, various infectious diseases of animals and vaccination / management for prevention, animal parasitic diseases and discussion related to animal husbandry (problems and solutions), marketing management of dairy products and scientific farming of coarse grains etc. For demonstration and experimental learning, the participants were taken on a tour of the educational dairy farm Nagla, Animal Production Management Department and other research centers. 53 departmental officers and progressive farmers from districts Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, Nainital, Chamoli, Almora and Udham Singh Nagar participated in the training program. The contribution of Dr. R.K. Sharma, Professor, Directorate of Extension Education, Ms. Jyoti Kanwal, Young Professional – II and Mr. Jagdish Chandra Bisht was commendable in conducting the training program.
